The mafia behind Posada Carriles has already slipped off the gown and promises to present a spectacular striptease — one in which they will undress the White House.

The response by Posada’s lawyers to a government motion, which forbids their defendant from talking about his links to the CIA during the trial to be held May 11 in El Paso, not only confirms that the Miami Mafioso is going to talk, but that he is already talking.

This disregard for the motion should not surprise those knowing the record of this mafia of Batista sympathizers, who —while hiding behind this terrorist as the mercenaries they are— are positioned such that they can speak to judges on a first name basis.

The response —which has appeared in the computerized information system of the courts since last Monday— disregards the motion proposed by the prosecuting attorney and insists on bringing up the times when the defendant conspired with the CIA.

Evidently the defense has changed its strategy. First they wanted a court that was unaware of Posada’s record, which was impossible. Now they are the very ones requesting these same records from the administration, which is trapped by its own mistakes and refuses to present this evidence. Meanwhile the defense insists on its right to “introduce the defendant to the jury.”

The links between the defendant and the CIA “place the case in a context, and this context is determined by Posada Carriles’ 25-year relationship with the CIA.”

Is this move only about reminding Washington of the debts it owes Luis Posada Carriles and all those who, just like him, have supported state terrorism used by that government against Cuba and Latin America? Or is it about a blackmail that has reached a new level?

Actually, Miami terrorists, not even Posada Carriles, could not have accomplished much without the support of the CIA or the approval of the US administrations for which they worked.

That is why this response, which is the most caustic challange that Bush has received concerning this allegation by his constituents, who have now become his extortioners, refutes the White House’s position and once again points attention to the implications of 1976.

The sabotage of a Cuban commercial airliner off Barbados and the murder of the former Chilean Foreign Minister Orlando Letelier and his assistant Ronnie Moffit in Washington, were committed that year. These acts occurred in the wake of the foundation of CORU (an anti-Cuba terrorist organization) and when former President George Bush Sr. was then the head of CIA. Washington was aware of both incidents before they occurred, and documents prove this.

In April 1976, a bomb exploded in the Cuban embassy in Portugal. In July, another device went off in the Cuba-Costa Rica cultural center in that Central American country. Similar attacks occurred on a Cubana Airlines plane in Jamaica, in the agency’s office in Barbados and in Air Panama’s office in Colombia.

Due to this, Posada’s lawyers, contradicting the prosecution, have strongly denied that in 1976 links between their defendant and CIA were about to conclude —or were “at the point of concluding”, as stated ambiguously in government documents of that year.

This information, the defense asserts, is “false”, and to corroborate this point they cite the participation of Posada in the Iran-Contra affair during the dirty war waged by Ronald Reagan and Vice President Bush Sr. against Nicaragua, as well as Posada’s presence in “other conflicts against communist guerrillas during the 80’s.”

The Cuban people have condemned the shamelessness of the Miami mafia for a long time. However, as has been proven, this also involves Washington, especially the Bush clan.

NOR A LIAR

Lawyers forthrightly presented another motion aimed at rebutting the charge that Posada Carriles has lied about his sneaking into the US. It affirms that the government deceived him because, although they knew that he would not be able to obtain citizenship due to his criminal record, he was interviewed from April 25 to 27, 2006 for purposes of naturalization. However, they contest, the purpose had been to compile more information about Posada to be used against him.

The defence adds that the principal objective of that interview was to obtain evidence to charge Posada with migratory fraud.

Washington attorney Jose Pertierra, in statements to the Cubadebate website, considered the success of this second reply unlikely. “If the government knew before hand that the terrorist didn’t qualify for naturalization, the (defense) team should have known too (...) If immigration authorities gave him an appointment and he wanted to go voluntarily, what he said in the interview is evidence in this case,” said Pertierra.

Primero fue la punta del pie, pero la mafia detrás de Posada Carriles se ha despojado ya del vestido y promete un espectacular striptease que, sin embargo, será a la Casa Blanca a quien desnude.

La respuesta de sus abogados a la moción del gobierno que prohíbe a Posada hablar sobre sus nexos con la CIA el 11 de mayo, cuando el terrorista disfrazado de inmigrante ilegal acuda al juicio previsto en El Paso, no solo confirma que la claque prepotente de Miami está dispuesta a hablar: ¡está hablando ya!

Para quien conozca el historial y a la bancada de batistianos y verdaderos mafiosos atrincherados —como los mercenarios que son— junto a Posada, reivindicados en su repudiable figura, no debe sorprender la irreverencia. Muchas veces ellos, muchas veces, le han hablado de tú a tú a la presidencia.

Así, en su moción de respuesta —reseñada desde el lunes en el sistema computadorizado de información de los tribunales—, el equipo que defiende al terrorista desafía la valla interpuesta por la fiscalía e insiste en que hace falta rememorar los nada viejos tiempos de contubernio entre el acusado y la Agencia Central de Inteligencia. Evidentemente, ha habido un cambio en la estrategia. Primero querían un tribunal que no conociera los antecedentes de Posada —un imposible. Ahora son ellos quienes exigen las pruebas que la administración, atrapada en sus propias faltas, se niega a dar, y enarbolan el derecho «de dar a conocer al acusado ante el jurado».

La relación entre él y la Agencia «pone el caso en contexto, y ese contexto está determinado por la relación de 25 años de Posada con la CIA».

¿Acaso se trata solo de recordarle a Washington los favores que le debe a Luis Posada Carriles y a quienes, como él, han sido instrumentos de su política de terrorismo de Estado contra Cuba y América Latina? ¿O el chantaje avanza y ha escalado otro peldaño?

En verdad, no mucho habrían podido hacer los terroristas de Miami, y no solo Posada, sin el apoyo de la Agencia Central de Inteligencia y el beneplácito —¡y la complacencia!— de gobiernos que los usaron.

Por eso, la más punzante aseveración que ha recibido la administración Bush en este alegato de los súbditos convertidos en extorsionadores, desmiente a la Casa Blanca y remarca otra vez la trascendencia del año 1976.

El sabotaje al avión de Cubana en Barbados y el asesinato del excanciller chileno Orlando Letelier y su asistente Ronnie Moffit en Washington, se cometieron ese año luego de la fundación del CORU (organización de la contrarrevolución terrorista), y cuando George Bush padre, antes que presidente, era director de la CIA. Washington sabía: lo prueban los documentos.

En abril había estallado una bomba contra la embajada de Cuba en Portugal; en julio, otro artefacto hizo explosión en el Centro Cultural Cuba-Costa Rica, de ese país y, ese mismo mes, similares atentados ocurrieron en la sección de equipajes de vuelos de Cubana de Aviación, en Jamaica; en la Oficina de la agencia en Barbados, y en las de Air Panamá en Colombia...

De ahí que, contradiciendo a los fiscales, los abogados de Posada han negado tajantemente que los vínculos entre su defendido y la CIA hubieran estado concluyendo —o «a punto de terminar», como dice, ambiguo, el texto del gobierno— en 1976. Esa información, dicen, «es incorrecta» y, para corroborarlo, enumeran la participación de Posada en el Iran-contra durante los tiempos de la guerra sucia de Ronald Reagan y su vicepresidente Bush (padre) contra Nicaragua y, también, su presencia en los que tildan como «otros conflictos contra las guerrillas comunistas en los años 80».

Las impudicias que la mafia terrorista de Miami está dejando al aire, hace tiempo las estamos denunciando los cubanos. Pero, como se ha evidenciado, comprometen mucho a Washington y, específicamente, al clan Bush.

TAMPOCO ES MENTIROSO

Ni cortos ni perezosos, los abogados presentaron también otra moción encaminada, presuntamente, a rebatir que Posada Carriles haya mentido acerca de su entrada en EE.UU., y afirman que el gobierno lo engañó porque, sabiendo que no clasificaba para obtener la ciudadanía debido a sus antecedentes penales en Panamá —pues esos no los pudo borrar con el indulto Mireya Moscoso—, lo entrevistó con fines de naturalización del 25 al 27 de abril de 2006. Sin embargo, se quejan, el propósito habría sido solo acumular más información del propio Posada en su contra.

El objetivo fundamental de la entrevista, añade la defensa, fue lograr evidencia para encausarlo por fraude migratorio.

En declaraciones al sitio informativo digital Cubadebate, el abogado que representa a Venezuela en su pedido de extradición, José Pertierra, consideró improbable que esta segunda réplica prospere. «Si el gobierno sabía de antemano que el terrorista no calificaba para la naturalización, también lo debería haber sabido su equipo (...) Si Inmigración lo citó y Posada quiso ir voluntariamente, lo que dijo en la entrevista bajo juramento es evidencia en este caso», explicó.
