Posada Carriles will be tried again He will be tried for perjury, not for terrorism by Jean-Guy Allard The trial of international terrorist Luis Posada Carriles, charged with migratory fraud and false testimony, has been set for August 10 before the same judge that previously freed him; and the attorney generals, who continue to ignore his terrorist past, have requested that they set his bail for $350,000 as a guarantee that he will appear in court.
According to EFE, they also asked Judge Kathleen Cardone that Posada be forced to wear an electronic ankle bracelet; that he may not leave the United States – fundamental – and that he abstains from communicating with terrorists Santiago Álvarez, Oswaldo Mitat, José Pujol, Rubén López Castro and Ernesto Abreu who refused to testify at his trial. Judge Cardone set the date for the trial at a hearing in El Paso, Texas. The former CIA agent will have to face charges for having tried to obtain citizenship with false declarations in an application presented on September 10, 2005, according to the accusation. The terrorist also lied under oath in an interview with officials from the Department of National Security in April, 2006. Using another delay tactic to avoid his extradition, the Federal Attorney’s Office appealed Cardone’s decision to disallow the case in front of the Fifth Circuit Appeal Court in New Orleans that ordered, after an endless amount of time, that he be tried. On April 19, 2007, Posada Carriles was freed and went to his wife’s home in Miami. He never respected the conditions of his release nor the most minimal decorum considering the situation. Meeting of Terrorists Posada Carriles recently participated in an assembly in Miami that gathered infamous anti-Cuba terrorists. The event was called by Angel De Fana Serrano, who participated in 1997 in a plot on Venezuela's Margarita Isle, planned by Posada, to assassinate the leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, during the Ibero-American Summit. The so-called congress of ex-political prisoners joined members of terrorist organizations who had served sentences for their participation in actions against civilian installations in Cuba, of those who supported bands of perpetrators of acts of bloody crimes during the first years of the Revolution, and of those involved in assassination plots against its principal leaders. The meeting called for conditioning any possible advance in U.S.-Cuba relations, to restrict any modification of U.S. policy that does not favor its allies, the internal mercenaries who are supplied and financed with U.S. money. The very presence of Posada in that "event" of terrorists is meant to send a threatening message to anyone who proposes a more constructive policy towards Cuba. |
Juzgarán de nuevo a Posada Carriles Lo enjuiciarán por mentiroso, no por terrorista por Jean-Guy Allard El juicio del terrorista internacional Luis Posada Carriles, por presunto fraude migratorio y falso testimonio, ha sido fijado para el 10 de agosto, ante la misma jueza que lo liberó; y los fiscales federales que siguen sin reconocer su pasado terrorista han solicitado que se le imponga una fianza de 350 000 dólares como garantía de que comparecerá ante el tribunal. Según EFE, se pidió también a la jueza Kathleen Cardone que Posada tenga que llevar un dispositivo electrónico en el tobillo; que no abandone Estados Unidos —lo elemental— y se abstenga de comunicarse con los terroristas Santiago Álvarez, Oswaldo Mitat, José Pujol, Rubén López Castro y Ernesto Abreu, quienes se negaron a testificar en su causa. La magistrada Cardone estableció la fecha del juicio en una vista en El Paso, Texas. El ex agente de la CIA tendrá que enfrentar cargos por haber intentado obtener la ciudadanía con declaraciones falsas en una solicitud presentada el 10 de septiembre del 2005, según la acusación. El terrorista también mintió bajo juramento en una entrevista con funcionarios del Departamento de Seguridad Nacional en abril del 2006. En una maniobra dilatoria más para evitar su extradición, la Fiscalía Federal apeló la decisión de Cardone de desestimar el caso ante el Tribunal de Apelaciones del Quinto Circuito de Nueva Orleans que ordenó, después de un plazo interminable, que fuera juzgado. El 19 de abril del 2007, Posada Carriles salió en libertad y se dirigió a la casa de su esposa en Miami. Nunca respetó las condiciones de su liberación ni el más mínimo decoro ante su situación. REUNIÓN DE TERRORISTAS Posada Carriles recién participó en Miami en una asamblea que reunió a connotados ejecutores del terrorismo contra Cuba. El evento fue convocado por Ángel De Fana Serrano, quien participó en 1997 en la isla venezolana de Margarita, en un complot —planificado por Posada— para asesinar al líder de la Revolución Cubana Fidel Castro durante la Cumbre Iberoamericana. El supuesto congreso de ex presos políticos reunió a miembros de organizaciones terroristas que cumplieron sanciones por su participación en acciones contra instalaciones civiles en la Isla, su apoyo a bandas de alzados autores de crímenes sangrientos durante los primeros años de la Revolución y su involucramiento en planes de atentados contra sus principales dirigentes. La reunión se pronunció por condicionar cualquier avance en las relaciones entre Cuba y EE.UU., restringir cualquier modificación en la política estadounidense que no sea a favor de sus aliados, los mercenarios internos abastecidos y financiados con el dinero del contribuyente norteamericano. La sola presencia de Posada en ese "evento" de terroristas intenta enviar un mensaje amenazador a quienes proponen cursos más constructivos en la política hacia Cuba.
