Posada Carriles and His Four Decades of Terror by Katia Siberia García The man who isn't on the US most wanted list because of a supposed "lack of evidence" is unmasked from his early days to the present by Granma International journalist Jean-Guy Allard in his new book, Posada Carriles, Four Decades of Terror, presented Wednesday at the International Press Center in Havana. Allard is a Canadian, who resides in Cuba, and is trained in "tracking crimes and criminal profiling." Rather than presenting a biography on the leading terrorist in the Western Hemisphere, Allard has brought together interviews and conversations with Posada, declassified documents and newspaper reports to reveal the long history of criminal behavior of this notorious protégée of the US government and the CIA. The trail begins with Posada's pre-revolution days as a henchman for the Batista dictatorship and maps out his role in the wave of repression in Venezuela under the government of Carlos Andres Perez. The book then documents Posada's preparations in masterminding the 1976 mid-flight bombing of a Cuban airliner that killed all 73 people aboard and continues with his involvement as a CIA agent in Central America (Guatemala, El Salvador and Honduras) during the 1980s. Allard's account ends in the streets of Miami, where Posada today enjoys complete freedom. Much of the information in the book was submitted by the US government on different occasions and although some revelations were reported in articles in the Washington Post and New York Times, the White House never showed any interest in going after the terrorist, notes Allard. During the presentation, Tubal Paez, president of the Association of Cuban Journalists (UPEC), praised the meticulous investigative methods used by Allard and honored a group of relatives of terrorism victims, present at the book launch. |

El hombre que no figura en la lista estadounidense de los más buscados debido a la supuesta "falta de pruebas" es mostrado desde sus orígenes por el periodista de Granma Internacional, Jean-Guy Allard, en su libro: Posada Carriles, cuatro décadas de terror, presentado este miércoles en el Centro de Prensa Internacional. Entrenado en "rastrear crímenes y perfilar criminales", este canadiense radicado en Cuba no hace una biografía del principal terrorista del Hemisferio Occidental, sino que, mediante entrevistas, apoyado en conversaciones de Posada, documentos desclasificados y periódicos, muestra el proceder de este protegido del gobierno norteamericano, que es también el proceder de la CIA. Así se presentan evidencias que lo detallan en la Cuba prerrevolucionaria como pistolero defensor de las ideas batistianas, en la ola represiva del gobierno de Carlos Andrés Pérez en Venezuela, en la década de los años 80 en la América Central (Guatemala, Salvador, Honduras), en los preparativos de la explosión del vuelo de cubana de aviación, o en la tranquilidad de las calles miamenses. Mucha de la información que contiene el texto fue suministrada al gobierno de Estados Unidos en diferentes oportunidades y aunque algunas revelaciones fueron expuestas por el Washington Post y el New York Times, en ninguno de los casos Washington se mostró interesado, afirmó Allard. Durante la presentación del libro, Tubal Páez, presidente de la Unión de Periodistas de Cuba, resaltó la pertinencia de los métodos investigativos del autor, y honró a una representación de familiares de las víctimas del terrorismo, presentes en la ocasión, quienes aun sufren el dolor infinito por la pérdida de sus seres queridos.
