To all women and men in the world, justice lovers,
To the people of the United States,

Five courageous Cubans: Gerardo, Ramón, Antonio, Fernando and René have been unfairly imprisoned in US jails for more than eleven years; their only crime has been to fight against terrorism and to defend their people’s right to live in peace.

While fighting against terrorism, and defending the fairest causes of humane dignity and liberty, these Five Heroes harbor their entire people’s decorum, as well as that of the progressive humanity at large.

As a result of the delayed and politicized process, the most outrageous physical and mental tortures have been committed against them and their relatives. This is a flagrant violation of the most basic principles of international law, of the established procedures with regards to due process, and of the regulations on the treatment to detained persons.

The United States government maintains a double standard in its policy to fight against terrorism; harbors, protects and supports US-based terrorist organizations that operate with impunity, causing victims not only among the Cuban people, but also in other countries.

Bearing in mind the above-mentioned statement:

The participants in the 5th International Colloquium “For the release of the Five Heroes and against terrorism”, social fighters, trade unionists, parliament members, pacifists, party leaders, intellectuals and religious leaders, have agreed to issue the following Declaration:

1. We demand the United States government:

- To respect its own laws and act in accordance with the rules of International Law.
- To IMMEDIATELY cease the systematic and repeated violations of human rights against the Cuban Five and their relatives, particularly the violation of the right to be visited by their wives Olga Salanueva and Adriana Pérez. And reclaim the granting of visas to both of them.
- To put an end to the logistic and financial support provided to terrorist organizations based in that country, and to bring the notorious terrorist Luis Posada Carriles to justice for the blowing up of a Cuban airliner in which 73 civilians were killed.

2. We demand President Barack Obama and the Government of the United States of America to free RIGHT AWAY the Cuban Five because they are innocent.
3. We call upon all honest people in our planet, and especially the noble US people, to work intensely to disseminate the just cause for the Cuban Five are fighting and to demand their liberation as a way of paying tribute to decency and truth.
4. We ratify to the Cuban Five and to everyone fighting for their freedom that we will not stop denouncing this injustice, and that we will continue to fight until they return to their homeland.

A todas las mujeres y hombres del mundo amantes de la justicia.
Al pueblo de los Estados Unidos:

Cinco valerosos cubanos: Gerardo, Ramón, Antonio, Fernando y René hace más de once años están presos de forma injusta en cárceles de los Estados Unidos de América por el único delito de combatir el terrorismo y defender el derecho de su pueblo a vivir en paz.

Estos Cinco Héroes al luchar contra el terrorismo, al defender las causas más justas de la dignidad y la libertad humanas, tienen en sí el decoro de todo su pueblo, de toda la humanidad progresista.

El largo y politizado proceso ha servido para que se cometan contra ellos y sus familiares las más increíbles torturas físicas y mentales, en flagrante violación de los principios más elementales del derecho internacional, de las normas del debido proceso y de las reglas sobre el tratamiento a los detenidos.

El gobierno de los Estados Unidos de América mantiene una doble moral y rasero en su política de lucha contra el terrorismo; alberga, protege y apoya a organizaciones terroristas que actúan impunemente desde su territorio ocasionando víctimas no solo al pueblo cubano, sino al de otros países.

Teniendo en cuenta lo anterior:

Los participantes en el V Coloquio Internacional “Por la Liberación de los Cinco Héroes y contra el Terrorismo”, luchadores sociales, sindicalistas, parlamentarios, pacifistas, líderes de partidos, intelectuales y líderes religiosos, acordamos emitir la siguiente Declaración:

1. Exigimos al gobierno de los Estados Unidos de América:
- Respetar sus propias leyes y ajustar su actuación a las normas del Derecho internacional.
- Cesar de forma ¡INMEDIATA! las sistemáticas y reiteradas violaciones de los derechos humanos que cometen contra los Cinco Héroes y sus familiares, y en particular la violación del derecho de visitas familiares de las esposas Olga Salanueva y Adriana Pérez, al cual se incorpora el reclamo del otorgamiento de visas para ambas.
- Poner fin al apoyo logístico y financiero a grupos y organizaciones terroristas que radican en ese país, y juzgar al connotado terrorista Luis Posada Carriles por la voladura de un avión cubano donde perdieron la vida 73 civiles.

2. Demandamos al Presidente Barack Obama y al gobierno de los Estados Unidos de América, que disponga la Libertad ¡YA! de los Cinco Héroes porque son inocentes.

3. Convocamos a todas las personas honestas del planeta y de manera especial al pueblo noble de los Estados Unidos a que trabajen intensamente en la tarea de divulgar la justa causa por la que luchan los Cinco Héroes y exijan su liberación como un tributo a la decencia y a la verdad.

4. Ratificamos a los Cinco Héroes y a todos los que luchan por su libertad que no nos cansaremos de denunciar esta injusticia y que seguiremos combatiendo hasta que regresen a su Patria.
