Havana, August 3 (acn) A cultural gala in solidarity with the five Cuban anti-terrorist fighters unjustly held in US prisons - internationally known as the Cuban Five - was held on Thursday in the Friendship with Cuba House in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Lidia Domini, of the Argentinean Committee for the Release of the Five, introduced the documentary "The process: An untold Story" by director Rolando Almirante, which offers details of the trial against the Five and their current situation.

The activist explained that an oral hearing will take place on August 20th before the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals of Atlanta and urged all Argentineans in solidarity with the Five to stay informed.

She also urged all the people present there to participate in a march and rally in front of the US Embassy in Buenos Aires scheduled for September 12th to demand the release of the Cuban Five on the occasion of the ninth anniversary of their incarceration.

For her part, Lilia María Zamora, from the Cuban Friendship Institute, praised the work of the Argentinean Committee and urged its members to continue and to further increase their efforts along with the more than 100 similar organizations around the world.

She also announced that, from October 26 to the 28, Ecuador will host the Fifth Continental Encounter in Solidarity with Cuba, in which a day will be dedicated to design a common strategy for the release of the Cuban Five.

Antonio Guerrero, Fernando González, Ramón Labañino, René González and Gerardo Hernández were all given harsh and unjust sentences in a biased trial full of irregularities and violations for having infiltrated Miami-based anti-Cuba terrorist groups.

BUENOS AIRES, 2 de agosto — Una velada de solidaridad con los cinco héroes cubanos injustamente encarcelados en Estados Unidos por luchar contra el terrorismo se celebró hoy en la Casa de la Amistad con Cuba en esta capital.

Lidia Domini, del Comité Argentino por la Liberación de los Cinco, presentó a los reunidos el documental El proceso. Una historia no contada, realizado por Rolando Almirante, sobre el juicio a los antiterroristas cubanos y la situación en torno a esa causa.

Recordó que el próximo 20 de agosto se efectuará la vista oral para las apelaciones, en la Corte del Onceno Circuito en Atlanta y exhortó a todos los argentinos solidarios con esta causa a estar atentos a ese acontecimiento.

También convocó a los presentes a unirse a la marcha y concentración frente a la Embajada de Estados Unidos para reclamar la libertad de los cinco el próximo 12 de septiembre, al cumplirse el noveno aniversario de su encarcelamiento.

Seguidamente se proyectó el filme, que cerró con una ovación por los asistentes.

La representante del Instituto Cubano de Amistad con los Pueblos (ICAP) Lilia María Zamora, elogió la labor del Comité Argentino y exhortó a sus integrantes a revigorizar los esfuerzos junto a las más de 100 organizaciones similares en todo el mundo.

Señaló que del 26 al 28 de octubre se celebrará en Ecuador el Quinto Encuentro Continental de Solidaridad con Cuba en el cual se dedicará una jornada a este tema con el objetivo de concertar una estrategia común por la liberación de los cinco jóvenes intelectuales cubanos.

Al acto asistió Fanny Edelman, destacada militante comunista argentina, y Orestes Hernández, primer secretario de la Embajada de Cuba.
