Youths Condemn US Terrorism, Demand Charges Be Dropped Against Cuban Five Delegates to the Second International Youth Meeting in Solidarity with the Cuban Five tried the US government as the greatest exponent of terrorism and demanded freedom for the Cuban Five and the end of the US blockade against Cuba by Nyliam Vázquez García
Delegates to the Second International Youth Meeting in Solidarity with the Cuban Five condemned the US government during a Youth Trial against Terrorism held on Tuesday at Havana’s Anti-imperialist Tribune. The oral hearing counted with testimonies by more than ten people, who argued Washington’s culpability from different points of view. At the same time, they demanded the end of the US blockade against Cuba, the release of the five Cuban antiterrorist fighters unfairly imprisoned in the United States for more than a decade, the protection of indigenous cultures around the world, and the right of the Palestinian people to their country. Several victims spoke before the youth tribunal about the pain caused by the death of or forced separation from a relative. The granddaughter of the Cuban co-pilot of the Cubana passenger aircraft bombed in midair over Barbados, the son of Rolando Pérez Quintosa, the daughter of René González —one of the Cuban Five—, and the nephew of Manuel Ascunce Domenech all testified. “I never met my father; but his example guides me,” said Rolando Pérez Labrada, son of Rolando Pérez Quintosa. Irma González Salanueva, the daughter of René González, made a special call in the name of the children of the Cuban Five to ask for justice and the condemnation of the real terrorists, who walk unpunished in the streets of Miami. Also heard at the trial were the voices of the Mapuche people, represented by Mexican and Peruvian students of the Latin American School of Medicine (ELAM); and from scientists and doctor who in 1981 attended many children infected by hemorrhagic dengue introduced in Cuba by the CIA. The trial also served to denounce the US’ illegitimacy to include Cuba in the list of countries sponsoring terrorism, when all testimonies and events exposed before the youth tribunal and other widely documented by history prove who the real terrorists are. The ruling was irrevocable and unanimous: the young people condemned the United States as the greatest exponent of terrorism and demanded freedom for the five Cubans unfairly imprisoned for defending their country from US-based terrorist actions. Following the trial, delegates to the solidarity meeting attended an Interactive International Forum in Solidarity with the Cuban Five carried out at Havana’s Main Computer Center. Also participating in the forum were relatives of the Cuban Five.

Exigen al gobierno de Estados Unidos eliminar los cargos contra los cinco luchadores antiterroristas cubanos Esa fue la primera demanda de la declaración final del II Encuentro Juvenil Internacional de Solidaridad con los Cinco, que sesionó durante dos días en el Centro de Convenciones de Cojímar, con jóvenes de 42 países, 82 organizaciones juveniles y estudiantiles y cuatro organizaciones internacionales por Nyliam Vázquez García Como la primera demanda de la declaración final del II Encuentro Juvenil Internacional de Solidaridad con los Cinco, los 145 jóvenes que en representación de 42 países, 82 organizaciones juveniles y estudiantiles y cuatro organizaciones internacionales participaron en el evento, exigieron al gobierno de EE.UU. y al presidente Barack Obama, eliminar los cargos por los cuales acusan y mantienen encarcelados a los cinco luchadores antiterroristas cubanos. El texto adoptado en la jornada de clausura recogió la esencia de los debates que durante dos días sostuvieron en el Centro de Convenciones de Cojímar los jóvenes del mundo convocados por la UJC. La segunda cita en La Habana, que discutió el modo en que los jóvenes pueden ser más efectivos en la lucha por su libertad, no es solo apoyo a esos cinco seres humanos, sino pura solidaridad con la verdad. Durante la tarde de este martes los delegados expusieron experiencias de trabajo y explicaron las propuestas para la conformación de un plan de acción único en la lucha por devolver a los Cinco a sus familias y a su patria. Jóvenes de Italia, Perú y Cuba debatieron y compartieron sus propuestas ante los presentes en el Encuentro. El objetivo fundamental del plan de acción aprobado será romper el silencio en torno al caso y sumar a la causa a todas las personas de buena voluntad. Se priorizarán las acciones desde EE.UU. y hacia EE.UU., mantendrán la divulgación y actualización del caso, crearán redes de distribución de información y, entre otras acciones, se realizará una jornada de solidaridad mundial entre el 6 y el 8 de junio en los países representados. «No podemos confiar en la justicia norteamericana, confiamos en ustedes», dijo a los delegados Maruchi Guerrero, hermana de Tony. En la clausura fue puesto a disposición del auditorio el libro Desde la soledad y la esperanza, que según su editor, Eduardo Heras León, es la voz unida de la intelectualidad cubana a favor de los Cinco, porque recoge textos de importantes escritores de la Isla, obras de reconocidos plásticos y piezas musicales especialmente compuestas para estos hermanos. La última sesión del II Encuentro Juvenil Internacional de Solidaridad con los Cinco Héroes estuvo presidida por Jorge Martí, jefe del Departamento de Relaciones Internacionales del Comité Central del Partido, familiares de los Cinco y dirigentes de la UJC y de las organizaciones estudiantiles.
