Documentary on Cuban Five to Be Screened in Uruguay
Aug. 31, 2007 Directed by Rolando Almirante, the documentary gives details about the arbitrary trial held in 2001 in Miami of Gerardo Hernandez, Antonio Guerrero, Fernando Gonzalez, Ramon Labañino and Rene Gonzalez, internationally known as the Cuban Five. They were detained in 1998 for having infiltrating right-wing anti-Cuba organization based in Florida, which have organized numerous terrorist actions against the island over the last 45 years causing death and huge material damage. The Five were charged with espionage and punished with extremely harsh sentences despite the antiterrorist nature of their mission. The documentary is to be screened at the lecture hall of the Association of Bank Employees of Uruguay thanks to the efforts of the Uruguayan Committee for the Release of the Cuban Five. Aug. 23, 2007 Havana, August 23 (acn) The documentary En la boca del leon (In the Lion's Mouth) will be premiered on September 17 in Montevideo, Uruguay, as part of the international campaign for the freedom of the five Cuban antiterrorist fighters unjustly held in US prisons. The 62-minute film, produced by Alejandra Guzzo, reflects the arbitrary trial held in 2001 in Miami of Gerardo Hernandez, Antonio Guerrero, Fernando Gonzalez, Ramon Labanino and Rene Gonzalez, internationally known as the Cuban Five. They were detained in 1998 for having infiltrating right-wing anti-Cuba organization based in Florida, which have organized numerous terrorist actions against the island over the last 45 years causing death and huge material damage. The Five were charged with espionage and punished with extremely harsh sentences despite the antiterrorist nature of their mission. In statements to PL news agency, Guzzo explained that the documentary contrasts the international support to the Five cause to the US network of disinformation on the case in Latin America and around the world. The Cuban documentary El Proceso (The process) will be also screened in Montevideo on August 31. The film shows the testimonies of prestigious Cuban lawyers who denounce the injustices committed against the Five.

Exhiben hoy en Uruguay documental sobre antiterroristas cubanos
31 de agosto de 2007 Montevideo, 31 ago (PL) A casi nueve años del encarcelamiento de cinco antiterroristas cubanos en Estados Unidos, el documental "El Proceso" será exhibido hoy aquí como parte de los esfuerzos de varias organizaciones uruguayas por lograr su liberación. Dirigida por Rolando Almirante, el filme trata sobre el amañado juicio a que fueron sometidos en Miami Gerardo Hernández, Antonio Guerrero, Fernando González, Ramón Labañino y René González. Los Cinco, como se les conoce en las campañas internacionales por su liberación, extinguen condenas entre 15 años y doble cadena perpetua por alertar a su patria sobre el accionar de bandas del sur de la Florida con un grueso expediente de actos terroristas contra la isla. La cinta se proyectará en el Anfiteatro de la Asociación de Empleados Bancarios del Uruguay en esta capital, gracias a los esfuerzos del Comité Uruguayo pro Liberación de los Cinco. Testimonios de los propios jóvenes, de sus familiares, de sus abogados defensores y de reputados juristas de Estados Unidos y otros países, se conjugan con elementos de carácter técnico y ético, hasta despejar las coordenadas de la injusticia cometida con los jóvenes.
