Trade Unionists to Demand Freedom for the Cuban Five The Fourth Trade Union Conference for Cuba-Venezuela-Mexico-USA Solidarity will begin with a panel on the case of the five Cuban anti-terrorist fighters unjustly imprisoned in the United States by Oscar Padilla Díaz Alicia Jrakpo, member of the Cuban Five Solidarity Committee said the event will begin with a presentation of the case. Present will be Irma Sehwerert, the mother of Rene Gonzalez, one of the Cuban Five. The event will be a stage to demand freedom for these five Cuban anti-terrorist fighters and to expand solidarity with this cause. Also taking part in the event will be Mexican personalities and international guests. At the end of the panel, the documentary El proceso will be shown, with narration by American actor Danny Glover. The Trade Union Conference on Cuba-Venezuela-Mexico-USA Solidarity has been held in the last four years under the sponsorship of the union group Labor Exchange USA-Cuba. This effort has been organizing a host of initiatives to encourage friendship with Cuba; this includes the annual holding of the conference dealing with solidarity with the island, especially by the working class movement. The issues such as migration and the ALBA Latin American integration effort, an alternative to US-back Free trade agreements, and will receive special attention at the conference. Personalities from Nicaragua, Bolivia, Colombia and Canada have expressed their interest in attending the conference. .
| Sindicalistas abogarán por la liberación de los Cinco antiterroristas cubanos La Cuarta Conferencia Sindical de Solidaridad Cuba-Venezuela-México-EE.UU. se iniciará con un panel sobre el caso de esos héroes injustamente presos en Estados Unidos por Oscar Padilla Díaz Un evento público a favor de los cinco cubanos prisioneros en cárceles norteamericanas tendrá lugar el próximo 7 de diciembre en Tijuana, México, como parte de la Cuarta Conferencia Sindical de Solidaridad Cuba-Venezuela-México-EE.UU. Alicia Jrakpo, miembro del Comité de Solidaridad con estos luchadores antiterroristas en California, Estados Unidos, informó que el evento se iniciará con un panel de presentación del caso, que contará con la presencia especial de Irma Sehwerert, madre de René González, uno de los prisioneros. El escenario será propicio para abogar por la liberación de los cinco antiterroristas, detenidos injustamente, así como extender lazos de solidaridad con esa causa. Participarán también personalidades mexicanas así como panelistas e invitados internacionales. Al concluir el panel será estrenada en esa localidad la película El proceso, narrada por el actor norteamericano Danny Glover. Según comentó Carmen Godines, funcionaria de la CTC, estas conferencias se realizan desde hace cuatro años, promovidas por el grupo de intercambio sindical Labor Exchange EE.UU.-Cuba. El proyecto ha venido desarrollando un programa de iniciativas de amistad con la Revolución Cubana que incluye la realización de este evento anual, donde se abordan temáticas de solidaridad con nuestro país y en especial con su movimiento obrero. Este año se tratarán de forma especial los temas del ALBA frente a los TLC y el de la migración, que siempre ha tenido un importante espacio en estos encuentros. Han mostrado interés en participar a esta cita personalidades de Nicaragua, Bolivia, Colombia y Canadá.
