"The Cuban Five antiterrorist must be already released. You could and should free them immediately", expressed Ricardo Alarcon de Quesada, president of the National Assembly of the People’s Power in Cuba referring to the legal authority Barack Obama has as President of the United States, during his speech in the Round Table TV program yesterday referring to the case of the Cuban Five antiterrorists, unjustly held in North American jails since September 12th, 1998.

The Cuban Parliament leader dealt with aspects related with the resistance that Fernando Gonzalez Llort, Antonio Guerrero Rodriguez and Ramon Labañino Salazar would be subjected next October. He underlined that Rene, who is about to serve his sentence, should be also released.

He declared that Gerardo’s situation is more difficult, because it is a closed process, a reason why Cuba and all the honest and with good will persons in the world should mobilize, until we get the reopening of this case. "We have to use all the possible resources to achieve it, even, with our teeth", pointed out the President of the National Assembly.

He reiterated that meanwhile five compatriots are waiting behind bars in solitary confinement that the North American legal system will pay attention to the claim of justice, the real guilty ones, bearers of a file up to the eyes with crimes and deaths, like the one having Luis Posada Carriles, freely and with total impunity walk Miami streets, hobnobbing with the Mafia and thinking up new terrorist plans against our country.

He asserted too that until Rene, Antonio, Fernando, Gerardo and Ramon would be freed, there could be no possible normal relations with the United States.

"A los Cinco antiterroristas cubanos hay que liberarlos ya. Usted puede y debe liberarlos de inmediato", expresó Ricardo Alarcón de Quesada, presidente de la Asamblea Nacional del Poder Popular, refiriéndose a la potestad de Barack Obama como Presidente de los Estados Unidos, durante su intervención en la Mesa Redonda de ayer en torno al caso de los cinco antiterroristas cubanos, presos injustamente en cárceles norteamericanas desde el 12 de septiembre de 1998.

El Titular del Parlamento cubano abordó aspectos relacionados con la resentencia a que serán sometidos Fernando González Llort, Antonio Guerrero Rodríguez y Ramón Labañino Salazar en octubre próximo. Subrayó que René, próximo a cumplir la sentencia, también debe ser liberado.

Declaró que la situación de Gerardo se torna más difícil, por ser un proceso cerrado, razón por la cual Cuba y todas las personas honestas y de buena voluntad del mundo deben movilizarse, hasta lograr la reapertura de este caso. "Hay que emplear todos los recursos posibles para lograrlo, incluso, las uñas, los dientes", apuntó el Presidente de la Asamblea Nacional.

Reiteró que mientras nuestros cinco compatriotas esperan tras las rejas en solitario confinamiento que el sistema judicial norteamericano atienda su reclamo de justicia, los verdaderos culpables, portadores de un expediente saturado de crímenes y muertes, como el de Luis Posada Carriles, se pasean libres e impunemente por las calles de Miami, codeándose con la mafia e ideando nuevos planes terroristas contra nuestro país.

Aseguró además que hasta tanto René, Antonio, Fernando, Gerardo y Ramón sean puestos en libertad, no podrá haber normalización posible en las relaciones con Estados Unidos.
