HAVANA, Cuba, Jan 20 (acn) Magali Llort, mother of one of the five Cuba anti-terrorists unfairly imprisoned in the United States, appealed to President Barack Obama to have the Cuban fighters released.

Everyday there are more people who know that the Cuban Five, as they are known by the international campaign for their freedom, were fighting terrorism and that they are innocent of the crimes they have been charged of, therefore we have to let Obama know about it so that he can try to safe his morale, said Fernando Gonzalez’ mother in a meeting with members of the Mexican Solidarity-with-Cuba Movement in Havana.

Llort said her son, together with Antonio Guerrero, Ramon Labañino, Rene Gonzalez and Gerardo Hernandez gave up everything they had to fight a scourge that the American government boasts to condemn.

Likewise, Olga Salanueva, Rene Gonzalez’ wife, told the audience of nearly 30 people that Fernando, Antonio and Ramon were re-sentenced in 2009, while the original condemns to Rene and Gerardo were maintained. She noted that the five are suffering unfair charges and called the international community to spread their situation.

Maria Luisa Aguayo Cruz, with the Cuban-Mexican Jose Marti Cultural Institute said she considered the cause of the Cuban Five as her own.

“Those wonderful men are more than Cubans, they belong to everywhere, they are international men and if we want a better world for our children and grandchildren we have to bring them back,” she said.

Omar Castro Rojas, president of the Institute announced the publication of the book “Les debo ver libres” (I have to see them free) by late journalist and writer Celia Hart. The book consists on a compilation of articles written by Hart about the Cuban Five and letters she sent to them.

The Coordinating Commission of the Mexican Solidarity-with-Cuba Movement arrived in Havana last Monday for an official visit until January 28.

La Habana, 20 ene (AIN) Magali Llort, madre de uno de los cinco cubanos antiterroristas injustamente presos en Estados Unidos, apeló hoy en esta capital al presidente Barack Obama, para que libere a esos luchadores.

Cada vez son más los que saben que Los Cinco luchaban contra el terrorismo y son inocentes, por lo que debemos hacérselo saber a Obama para que intente salvar su moral, dijo la madre de Fernando González en la sede del Instituto Cubano de Amistad con los Pueblos.

Ante miembros del Movimiento Mexicano de Solidaridad con Cuba, Llort resaltó que su hijo y también Antonio Guerrero, Ramón Labañino, René González y Gerardo Hernández renunciaron a todo por luchar contra un mal que el Gobierno norteamericano dice condenar.

Los casi 30 integrantes de esa agrupación escucharon igualmente a Olga Salanueva, esposa de René, apelar a la solidaridad más activa posible con Los Cinco, como se les conoce en las campañas internacionales por su excarcelación.

Fernando, Antonio y Ramón -dijo- fueron resentenciados en 2009, en tanto a René y Gerardo se les mantuvieron sus condenas, pero pesan sobre todos injustas culpas, lo que debe difundirse sin cansancio mediante la solidaridad internacional.

Con emocionadas palabras, María Luisa Aguayo Cruz, del Instituto Cultural Cubano Mexicano José Martí (ICCMJM), consideró como propia la causa por la liberación de los antiterroristas cubanos.

Esos hombres maravillosos son más que cubanos, son de todas partes, son internacionales, y si queremos un mundo mejor para nuestros hijos y nietos, tenemos que lograr traerlos de vuelta, sentenció.

Omar Castro Rojas, presidente del ICCMJM, informó sobre la publicación, en México, del libro "Les debo verlos libres", de la desaparecida periodista y escritora Celia Hart, consistente en una compilación de artículos de ella sobre Llos Cinco y cartas que les dirigió.

La Comisión Coordinadora del Movimiento Mexicano de Solidaridad con Cuba, que llegó a La Habana el lunes último, cumple un programa de visitas a lugares de interés histórico, educacional, económico y cultural, que culminará el próximo 28 de enero.
