HAVANA, Cuba, Aug 7 (acn) Solidarity-with-Cuba groups availed themselves of the visit of US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton to Kenya to give her letters demanding the immediate release of the five Cuban antiterrorists unjustly incarcerated in her country.

On one of the letters, Mwandawiro Mghanga, president of the Kenya-Cuba Friendship Association and of the Social Democratic Party, reminded Mrs. Clinton about Barack Obama’s promise to work to put an end to his country’s negative legacy in terms of human rights violations, the Juventud Rebelde newspaper reports on Friday.

The second letter, delivered by hand to one of Clinton’s assistants by members of the Kenya-Cuba and Kenya-Venezuela Friendship Associations, demands her intervention to urgently amend several issues of the US foreign policy, related, in a direct way, to the sovereignty of the peoples of the South.

The text also demands the release of the Cuban Five -as they are internationally known-, who have been incarcerated in the US for over a decade and the closing of the US Naval Base in Guantanamo, and condemns the coup d´état in Honduras, besides demanding the Palestinian people’s right to independence.

During a rally carried out by Muslim organizations in Kenya to protest against the presence of the US delegation in that country, Mwandawiro was also the bearer of a message demanding the release of René Gonzalez, Ramón Labañino, Gerardo Hernández, Antonio Guerrero and Fernando Gonzalez, the only crime of which was to defend their homeland from the terrorist actions of Florida-based, anti-Cuban groups.

La Habana, 7 ago (AIN) Grupos de solidaridad con Cuba en Kenya aprovecharon la visita de Hillary Clinton, secretaria de Estado yanqui, y le entregaron cartas que reclaman libertad inmediata de los Cinco antiterroristas cubanos presos injustamente en EE.UU.

En una de las cartas, Mwandawiro Mghanga, presidente de la Asociación de Amistad Cuba-Kenya y del Partido Socialdemócrata, recordó a la jefa de la diplomacia estadounidense la promesa del presidente Barack Obama de trabajar para poner fin al negativo legado de su país en materia de violaciones de los derechos humanos, informa hoy el rotativo Juventud Rebelde.

La segunda misiva, entregada personalmente a uno de los asistentes de la Clinton por miembros de las Asociaciones de Amistad Cuba-Kenya y Venezuela-Kenya, solicita su intervención para enmendar urgentemente varios temas de la política exterior norteamericana que atañen directamente a la soberanía de los pueblos del Sur.

El texto demandó también la liberación de los Cinco y el cierre de la Base Naval de Guantánamo, y rechazó el golpe de Estado en Honduras, además de reivindicar el derecho a la independencia del pueblo palestino.

Mwandawiro también fue portador de un mensaje que exige la libertad de quienes únicamente defendieron a los cubanos del terrorismo, durante una manifestación realizada por organizaciones musulmanas en Kenya, que protestaron por la presencia de la delegación estadounidense en el país.

René González, Ramón Labañino, Gerardo Hernández, Antonio Guerrero y Fernando González, conocidos internacionalmente como Los Cinco, cumplen en EE.UU. desde hace mas de una década, injustas condenas por defender a su pueblo de acciones terroristas de grupos extremistas anticubanos asentados en la Florida.
