Irma Gonzalez addresses 2nd World Young Women's Meeting

 Caracas, Apr 8 (Prensa Latina) Young Irma Gonzalez, daughter of one of the five Cuban anti-terrorists jailed in the United States, considered the possibility that the World Women Congress, to begin on Monday, can define concrete actions to free those prisoners.
Gonzalez spoke on Saturday to the plenary of the 2nd World Young Women Meeting, an event that precedes the 14th International Women Democratic Federation Congress (IWDFC), scheduled to start on Monday in the Venezuelan capital.
She referred to a personal anecdote to explain to women of the five continents, who are livening up the young-women meeting, the scope of her father and his compatriots´ struggle in US territory.
A story about what the son of one of the 73 victims of the terrorist attack on a Cubana de Aviacion airline aircraft, in the Caribbean Barbados island in 1976, told her that if those five Cubans were doing their job then within the terrorists organizations, his father would live today.
More than 400 delegates, representing the five continents and all the Venezuelan social sectors have been making the event livelier since Saturday, as the preface to the International Democratic Women`s Federation Congress.
There are important issues to debate in the meeting, as State terrorism, military intervention by the powers in Third World countries, and sex advertising, Venezuelan Young Women Secretary Argie Mar Moreno told Prensa Latina.
The forum should be against the most contemporary forms of intervention by great powers in our nations, as the Colombia, Puebla Panama, and Patriota (Patriot) plans, she stated.
Delegates to the event said we will raise the flag of globalizing solidarity, against neoliberal and imperialist globalization, she concluded.
The first meeting of that kind was held in Paris, in 2001. |
