US Port Workers: Free the Cuban Five
Feb. 3, 2009 Havana, Feb 3 (Prensa Latina) The International Longshore and Warehouse Union in US demanded President Barack Obama Justice for the antiterrorist Cuban five imprisoned in that country, Central Workers Union of Cuba reported Tuesday. They demand in the missive, received in Havana, to take immediate actions to end the criminal sentences they are serving, since they are innocent, it reads. The union emphasized the additional sentence imposed to Gerardo Hernandez and Rene Gonzalez, two of the Cuban Five imprisoned in US, since they are not allowed to have family visits. The letter demands Obama to grant entry visas to their spouses. After recalling they were trying to prevent terrorist attacks against Cuba, it added US people would do any thing to defend themselves from terrorism, as they did it in favor of peace and the well-being of humanity. The labor union emphasized that the Cuban five have already spent 10 years in prison; it is time for them to return home.

Sindicato estadounidense pide justicia para antiterroristas cubanos
3 de febrero de 2009 La Habana, 3 feb (PL) El Sindicato Internacional de Trabajadores Portuarios y Almacenistas de Estados Unidos pidió al presidente Barack Obama, justicia para los cinco antiterroristas cubanos presos en ese país, informó hoy la central obrera de la Isla. En su misiva, recibida aquí, pidió al mandatario que actúe inmediatamente para poner fin a la injusticia cometida con los prisioneros, los cuales, puntualizó, son inocentes. El sindicato destacó el castigo adicional impuesto a Gerardo Hernández y René González, dos de los encarcelados, al no permitirles recibir visitas de sus familiares y solicitaron a Obama intervenga para el otorgamiento de visados a sus respetivas esposas. Tras recordar que ellos trataban de evitar ataques terroristas a Cuba, agregó que el pueblo estadounidense haría cualquier cosa por defenderse del terrorismo “como lo hicieron esos luchadores por la paz y el bien de la humanidad”. La organización obrera subrayó que los cinco cubanos ya pasaron 10 años en prisión y es hora de regresar a sus hogares y familiares en la patria.
