Prague, Nov 27 (Prensa Latina) The Second European Left Congress approved unanimously a motion of solidarity with five Cuban anti-terrorist fighters unfairly imprisoned in United States for fighting terrorism.

The document highlights that for nine years, the Five, as they are universally known, are in jail from that northern country after a politicized judiciary process full of irregularities held in the city of Miami.

The text states that Rene Gonzalez, Ramon Labanino, Gerardo Hernandez, Fernando Gonzalez and Antonio Guerrero monitored terrorist plans against their country organized from Florida by Cuban-American rightwing extreme groups.

The motion stress the worldwide support of this case, included over 6,000 academics among them some Nobel Prize winners.

Among aims of the Congress, run in Prague on November 24-25, was to demand the immediate end of that injustice.

That organization called participants' attention on the case, foster statements by European lawmakers, spoke out against the visa denial to spouses of Gerardo and Rene to visit them, and agreed to attend the World Campaign of Solidarity with the Five, to start September 12, 2008, the 10th anniversary of their unjust imprisonment.

The European Left stated it won't stop in its aims until doing justice and the five Cuban anti-terrorist fighters can return home and families.

PRAGA, 27 de noviembre.— El II Congreso de la Izquierda Europea aprobó por unanimidad una moción de solidaridad con los cinco cubanos presos y condenados a largas sanciones en los Estados Unidos por combatir al terrorismo.

El documento destaca que desde hace más de nueve años los Cinco, como se conocen internacionalmente, permanecen encarcelados como resultado de un proceso judicial politizado y lleno de irregularidades que se celebró en la ciudad de Miami.

Destaca la moción el apoyo que este caso recibe en diferentes latitudes, incluidos más de 6 000 intelectuales entre los que se cuentan algunos premios Nobel.

La Izquierda Europea en su segundo congreso, reunido en Praga del 24 al 25 de este mes, sumó su voz a las que en el mundo demandan inmediato fin a esa injusticia.

Esa organización decidió dirigirse a sus contrapartes y a los legisladores de América del Norte para llamar su atención sobre el caso, además de promover pronunciamientos de los parlamentos europeos sobre el proceso y las condiciones de encarcelamiento de los Cinco.

También se pronunció contra la negativa de visados a las esposas de Gerardo y René para visitarlos y acordó participar en el Día Mundial de Solidaridad con los Cinco, que se efectuará el 12 de septiembre del 2008, cuando se cumplirá el décimo año de su injusto encierro.
