Dominicans Demand Cuban Five Release

Santo Domingo, Apr 1 (Prensa Latina) The Ninth National Congress of Dominican university students of the Flavio Suero Student Front (FEFLAS) demanded the immediate release of five antiterrorist Cubans unjustly held in US prisons.

In a resolution released on Sunday, the Congress expressed solidarity with Fernando Gonzalez, Gerardo Hernandez, Ramon Labanino, Antonio Guerrero and Rene Gonzalez, who were arrested eight years ago in the United States.

These men's "crime", says the document, was to infiltrate Miami-based counterrevolutionary groups to prevent them from carrying out terrorist actions against the Cuban people and humankind.

The FEFLAS resolution accuses the US government of lacking moral standards to keep them in prison, least of all to accuse any citizen or State of terrorism.

The United States is responsible for the atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, the attack on Vietnam, and the assassinations of Chilean President Salvador Allende and dozens of democratic and revolutionary leaders all over the world, stresses the resolution, adding that Washington is also responsible for the invasions of Iraq, Afghanistan, Panama, Grenada and Puerto Rico, among other countries.

Against the Cuban people, the United States has conceived all kinds of economic, political and military actions, including hundreds of attempts to assassinate President Fidel Castro, to destroy the revolution in that country, the resolution points out.

The FEFLAS will be actively involved in a nationwide mobilization to express support for the five Cuban patriots, called by the Caribbean Youth and scheduled for April 13-26 in several Dominican cities, including Santo Domingo.
