The immediate release of the Five is the only way to do real justice Statement of Cuban youth in response to the unjust decision of the U.S. Supreme Court not to review the case of our heroes, the Cuban Five June 18, 2009 THE decision of the United States Supreme Court which, in response to a petition from that country’s government, did not agree to review the case of our Five Heroes, is a resounding slap in the face for those of us who are fighting for a world that is truly respectful, just and free of the scourge of terrorism. We young Cubans, who feel proud to have brothers of the stature of René, Antonio, Gerardo, Ramón and Fernando, call for and demand together with our people the immediate release of the Five, which is the only way to do real justice in this case. We call on organizations and associations of youth and students and young people of goodwill all over the world to join us, as they have so many times, in a fight for the truth, which is being trampled by those who are making double standards a veritable symbol of that discredited and shameful judicial system. The government of the United States of America, which is harboring, protecting and supporting terrorists like Luis Posada Carriles and Orlando Bosch, whose hands are stained with the innocent blood not only of Cubans but of many sons and daughters of other nations, uses its rhetoric in an attempt to deceive the world, while its real policy is led by mafia interests in south Florida. We have grown up in a country that has lost 3,478 of its sons and daughters as a consequence of acts of terrorism, but our people are devoid of hatred or sentiments of revenge; that is why we have sufficient morale to denounce the dirty process followed against our brothers, which is a bald-faced manifestation of reprisal against the firm position taken by these anti-terrorist fighters, and of impotence in the face of this little island that U.S. governments have been unable and will never be able to bring to its knees. The fight for the truth to make way and for justice to prevail will not stop, and now it will grow. Our arguments and the overwhelming evidence that the judges did not want to consider, as well as the demands that, like never before, reached them from extremely prestigious individuals inside and outside of the United States, are a stain on the government of the most powerful nation in the world that will be difficult to bear or ignore. Those who express their visceral hatred toward the Revolution through evil deeds and resentment against our finest sons and daughters are really not doing anything new. Throughout these 50 years, thousands of young people have paid with their lives, and thousands more of us are willing to continue doing so in order to live in a country that has committed the sin of not going down on its knees before the chaotic and brutal North that despises us. In the message that our five anti-terrorist fighters sent to the U.S. people in June of 2001, they expressed important truths that are essential to remember: "In our prison stay we have had the time to reflect on our conduct in this country and we can say, without the shadow of a doubt, that neither with our attitude nor our actions have we in any way interfered with, or jeopardized the security of, the American people. What we have done is to contribute to exposing terrorist plots and actions against our people, thus preventing the death of innocent Cubans and Americans…. The best service that can be lent to the American people is to liberate them from the influence of these extremists and terrorists who are doing so much damage to the United States by conspiring against its own laws… We…simply take comfort in the fact that we have honored our duty to our people and our homeland. Our loved ones understand the reach of the ideas that guide us and they will take pride in our commitment to humanity in the struggle against terrorism and for the independence of Cuba." La inmediata liberación de los Cinco es la única manera de hacer verdadera justicia
Declaración de la juventud cubana ante la injusta decisión de la Corte Suprema de los EE.UU., que rehusó aceptar el caso de nuestros Cinco Héroes 18 de junio de 2009 La decisión de la Corte Suprema de los Estados Unidos, que a solicitud del Gobierno de ese país no accedió a revisar el caso de nuestros Cinco Héroes, es una bofetada en pleno rostro a los que luchamos por un mundo verdaderamente respetuoso, justo y libre del flagelo del terrorismo. Los jóvenes cubanos, que sentimos el orgullo de contar con hermanos de la talla de René, Antonio, Gerardo, Ramón y Fernando, reclamamos y exigimos junto a nuestro pueblo la inmediata liberación de los Cinco, que es la única manera de hacer verdadera justicia en este caso. Llamamos a las organizaciones, asociaciones juveniles y estudiantiles, a los jóvenes de buena voluntad de todo el mundo para que se nos unan, como en tantas ocasiones, en la lucha a favor de la verdad, que es pisoteada por quienes hacen de la doble moral un verdadero símbolo de ese sistema judicial desacreditado y vergonzoso. El gobierno de Estados Unidos de América, que alberga, protege y apoya a terroristas como Luis Posada Carriles y Orlando Bosh, quienes cargan en sus espaldas la sangre inocente no solo de cubanos sino de muchos hijos de otros pueblos, usa su retórica para tratar de engañar al mundo, mientras su política real es conducida por los intereses mafiosos del sur de la Florida. Hemos crecido en un país que ha perdido a 3 478 de sus hijos, como consecuencia de acciones terroristas, pero nuestro pueblo está desprovisto de odios y sentimientos de venganza, por eso nos asiste la moral suficiente para denunciar el sucio proceso seguido contra nuestros hermanos, que es una descarada manifestación de represalia ante la posición firme de estos luchadores antiterroristas y de impotencia ante esta pequeña Isla que no han podido ni podrán doblegar jamás. La lucha para que la verdad se abra paso y prevalezca la justicia no se detendrá y ahora se multiplicará. Nuestros argumentos y las pruebas contundentes que los jueces no quisieron considerar, así como los reclamos que como nunca les llegaron de personas sobradamente prestigiosas de dentro y fuera de Estados Unidos, constituyen una mancha para el Gobierno de la mayor potencia del mundo, que difícilmente pueda ser soportada o ignorada. Quienes expresan su odio visceral contra la Revolución a través de la maldad y el resentimiento contra nuestros mejores hijos, no ensayan realmente nada nuevo. A lo largo de estos 50 años miles de jóvenes han pagado con su vida, y otros tantos estamos dispuestos a seguir haciéndolo, a cambio de vivir en un país que cometió el pecado de no ponerse de rodillas ante el Norte revuelto y brutal que nos desprecia. En el mensaje que, en junio del 2001, enviaran nuestros cinco luchadores antiterroristas al pueblo norteamericano, dijeron importantes verdades que resulta imprescindible recordar: "¼ hemos reflexionado sobre nuestra conducta en este país y reafirmamos la más profunda convicción de que con nuestra actitud y acciones no transgredimos ni pusimos en peligro la seguridad del pueblo norteamericano y sí contribuimos en alguna medida a descubrir planes y acciones terroristas contra nuestro pueblo, evitando la muerte de ciudadanos inocentes cubanos y norteamericanos¼ el mayor servicio que se le puede prestar al pueblo norteamericano es liberarlo de la influencia de estos extremistas y terroristas que tanto daño le hacen a Estados Unidos al conspirar contra sus propias leyes¼ Nos reconforta el deber cumplido con nuestro pueblo y nuestra Patria. Nuestras familias comprenden el alcance de las ideas que nos han guiado, y sentirán orgullo por esta entrega a la humanidad en la lucha contra el terrorismo y por la independencia de Cuba". ¡LIBERTAD PARA LOS CINCO!
