SANTIAGO DE CHILE — Thousands of Chileans demanded the liberation of five young Cuban fighters against terrorism imprisoned in the United States, said the Chilean Coordinator of Solidarity with Cuba to the Prensa Latina agency news.
According to Sandra Rojas, leader of this organization, so far they have collected more than five thousand signatures at three massive concerts given by Cuban singer/songwriter Silvio Rodriguez in Santiago de Chile.
Rojas thinks that “it shows that, when people actually know the real situation of the defenders of the Cuban Revolution, they not only support them, but also demand their freedom.”
She also said that “the only crime of the Cuban Five was trying to prevent terrorist actions against the people of Cuba.”
She also said that when people know that the White House was protecting terrorist Posada Carriles, responsible for several acts of sabotage against Cuba and an accomplice in the murder of former Chilean Minister of Foreign Affairs Orlando Letelier “they sign, they support us and they urge us to continue fighting.”
Rojas also said that in both Vina del Mar and Talca, where Silvio Rodriguez will sing today and on March 8, solidarity organizations will hold similar activities to deliver these signatures to the embassy of the United States in Chile.
