Solidarity Campaign for the Cuban Five InitiatedYoung Cuban artists yesterday kicked off a new solidarity campaign for the liberation of the Cuban Five at the Salvador Allende Memorial Home in Havanaby Yailin Orta Rivera The Second International Campaign to Free the Cuban Five started on December 12 with a concert and speeches by a host of renowned figures at the Salvador Allende Memorial Home in Havana. This ongoing struggle for the release of the five Cuban anti-terrorist fighters coincides with the fifth anniversary of their sentences handed down by Judge Joan Lenard. “We want them to free our brothers, who are being unfairly punished for saving us from the intimidation of terrorist organizations,” said Graciela Ramirez, president of the International Committee for Justice and Freedom for the Cuban Five. The president of the International Committee explained that there will be solidarity events in Argentina, Dominican Republic, France, Spain, Russia, England, Colombia, Peru, Ukraine and other countries. The US solidarity committee has planned to carry out a protest in front of The New York Times office on December 20 in an appeal to the press to speak out against the manipulated and rigged judicial process to which the five men have been subjected. |
Comienza nueva campaña internacional de solidaridad con los CincoJóvenes artistas cubanos abrieron ayer en la casa memorial Salvador Allende, en la capital. La nueva jornada por la libertad de los cinco héroes cubanos prisioneros del imperiopor Yailin Orta Rivera Con una cantata y los pronunciamientos de varias personalidades se inició en la tarde de este martes, en la casa memorial Salvador Allende, en Ciudad de La Habana, la Segunda Jornada Internacional por la Liberación de los Cinco Héroes. Este renovado compromiso de lucha por la excarcelación de los jóvenes cubanos coincide con el quinto aniversario de que la jueza Joan Lenard dictara sentencia en el caso de los luchadores antiterroristas. «Queremos que liberen a nuestros hermanos, a quienes se les culpa injustamente por salvarnos del hostigamiento de las organizaciones terroristas», expresó en el acto Graciela Ramírez, presidenta del Comité Internacional Justicia y Libertad a los Cinco. La presidenta del Comité Internacional explicó que tienen confirmadas actividades en Argentina, República Dominicana, Francia, España, Rusia, Inglaterra, Colombia, Perú, Ucrania y otros países. El comité de solidaridad norteamericano prevé realizar, el 20 de diciembre, un acto frente a la sede de The New York Times, para exigir a la prensa de ese país que denuncie la maldad de este amañado proceso. |
