Alarcón calls for strengthening

Alarcón asked for a greater creativity of actions as a way to break the information blockade by the media transnational companies, which hide and manipulate the truth regarding the Five, as they are known in the international campaign for their liberation. Alarcón, member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, suggested for people to take advantage of all circumstances and places to be utilized to denounce the arbitrary process against Fernando González, Antonio Guerrero, Gerardo Hernández, Ramón Labañino y René González. He condemned the violation of U.S. laws and international that were committed during the detention of these heroes since the first day of their arrests. He reminded attendees that these fighters remained almost 17 months in solitary confinement, which would be sufficient grounds to nullify the whole trial. If the U.S. people had known the truth, if they had been allowed to know what was happening from the beginning to our comrades, they would have been free long ago. He explained that the manipulated trial that the Five were subjected to in Miami, in a hostile anti-Cuba atmosphere, imposed unjust convictions and long sentences, totalling four life sentences and 77 years. He referred to the support offered by Washington to the murderer Luis Posada Carriles, who in a public pronouncement called for the doubling of terrorist actions against the Caribbean island, the same actions that led the Cuban Five to stop those violent groups. Alarcón characterized Washington as a government that openly tolerates terrorism from its territory, where violent groups are organized against Cuba and other peoples of Latin America. The Cuban parliamentary president announced a meeting of Latin American and Caribbean parliamentarians in July, called by the National Assembly of Panama, with the aim of increasing solidarity with the cause of the Cuban Five.

por Daydee Díaz Fleites La Habana, 6 may (AIN) Ricardo Alarcón, presidente de la Asamblea Nacional del Poder Popular, convocó hoy a reforzar la movilización mundial para lograr la libertad de los Cinco Héroes cubanos prisioneros desde 1998 en EE.UU. por combatir el terrorismo. Las arbitrariedades cometidas contra estos patriotas fueron denunciadas por el dirigente, ante filósofos de 20 países reunidos en la IV Conferencia Internacional "La Obra de Carlos Marx y los Desafíos del siglo XXI", que sesiona en el Palacio de Convenciones de La Habana. Alarcón solicitó una mayor creatividad de acciones como vía que posibilite romper el bloqueo informativo impuesto por las transnacionales de prensa, las cuales ocultan y manipulan la verdad con relación a Los Cinco, como se les conoce en la campaña internacional por su excarcelación. El también miembro del Buró Político del Comité Central del Partido Comunista de Cuba llamó a aprovechar cuantas circunstancias y lugares sean posibles para denunciar el arbitrario proceso contra Fernando González, Antonio Guerrero, Gerardo Hernández, Ramón Labañino y René González. Denunció la violación de las leyes norteamericanas y del derecho en general cometida durante la detención de esos héroes desde el primer día de su encierro. Recordó que esos luchadores permanecieron casi 17 meses en confinamiento en solitario, suficiente para anular todo el proceso. Si el pueblo norteamericano hubiera sabido la verdad; si se le hubiera permitido conocer lo que estaba sucediendo desde el principio con nuestros compañeros, estuvieran libres hace mucho tiempo, significó. Explicó que en el amañado juicio al que fueron sometidos en la ciudad de Miami, en un ambiente hostil a Cuba, se les impusieron injustificadas y largas condenas, que suman cuatro cadenas perpetuas, más 77 años. Se refirió al amparo brindado por Washington al asesino Luis Posada Carriles, quien recientemente en alocución pública en la Florida incitó a redoblar las acciones terroristas contra la Isla Caribeña, las mismas que condujeron a Los Cinco a contrarrestar esos grupos violentos. Alarcón calificó al de Washington como un gobierno que propicia y tolera abiertamente el terrorismo desde su territorio, donde existen agrupaciones violentas organizadas contra Cuba y otros pueblos de América Latina. El Presidente del Parlamento de la Isla anunció para julio próximo la realización de una reunión de parlamentarios de latinoamericanos y caribeños, convocada por la Asamblea Nacional de Panamá, a fin de incrementar la solidaridad con la causa de Los Cinco.
