Upon learning of the aberrant failure of the panel of three-judge panel of the Eleventh Circuit Court in Atlanta, which considered the appeals of our five fellow political prisoners in the United States, the jurists of Villa Clara, Republic of Cuba

We condemn:

First: this unjust failure, which plays into the hands of the customary aggressive policies of the United States against the people of Cuba.

Second: that this compromised appeals court has once again returned the cases of Fernando Gonzáles, Ramón Labañino and Antonio Guerrero for re-sentencing to the hostile and anti-Cuban city of Miami, by the same judge who is compromised by the extreme right-wing Cuban mafia.

We Demand:

An immediate end to this unjust imprisonment of 10 years for 5 men who were doing nothing more than fighting against the terrorism engendered against their country from the territory of the United States, without a single charge of espionage against the government of that country being proven.

That the United States government immediately grant visas to Olga Salanueva and Adriana Pérez so that they may visit their husbands René González and Gerardo Hernández, a right of which they have been deprived during these 10 years without any basis or reason whatsoever, in violation of the Eighth Amendment of the United States Constitution, which prohibits "cruel and unusual punishment;" the international agreement on civil and political rights and the [U.N.] Standard Minimum Rules for the Treatment of Prisoners, which at Rule 37 establishes that "Prisoners shall be allowed under necessary supervision to communicate with their family and reputable friends, at regular intervals, both by correspondence and by receiving visits."

To those on the side of right and good in the world, we ask for as many actions as necessary to continue with us in the waging of this battle.

Los juristas de Villa Clara, República de Cuba, al conocer el aberrado fallo del panel de tres jueces de la corte del onceno circuito de Atlanta, que conoció las apelaciones de nuestro cinco compatriotas presos políticos en los Estados Unidos

Condenamos:

Primero: este injusto fallo que le hace el juego a la acostumbrada política agresiva de los Estados Unidos contra el pueblo de Cuba.

Segundo: que esta comprometida corte de apelaciones haya designado nuevamente la hostil y anticubana ciudad de Miami y la misma jueza comprometida con los grupos de la extrema derecha mafiosa cubana, para volver a dictar sentencia en los casos de Fernando González, Ramón Labañino y Antonio Guerrero.

Exigimos:

Que culmine de una vez esta injusta prisión de 10 años a 5 hombres que no hicieron mas que luchar contra el terrorismo que se engendra contra su patria desde el territorio de los Estados Unidos, sin que se les haya podido probar un solo cargo de espionaje contra el gobierno de dicho país.

Que el gobierno de Estados Unidos les otorgue de inmediato visas a Olga Salanueva y Adriana Pérez para que puedan visitar a sus esposos René González y Gerardo Hernández, derecho este del que han sido privadas en estos 10 años sin razón o fundamento alguno, violándose la VIII enmienda de la constitución de los Estados Unidos, que prohibe los "castigos crueles e inusuales"; El pacto internacional de derechos civiles y políticos y las reglas mínimas para el tratamiento de los reclusos, que establecen en su regla 37 que "se le permitirá a los prisioneros, bajo la necesaria supervisión, comunicarse con sus familiares y amistades en intervalos periódicos, tanto por correspondencia como a traves de visitas"

A los hombres de derecho y de bien del mundo les solicitamos cuantas acciones sean necesarias para continuar librando junto a nosotros esta batalla.
