Close to 100 vehicles participated in mid-day on Saturday, May 5, in an important caravan against the terrorism of Cuban American extreme rightwing organizations and in favor of travel to Cuba. It was a resounding success.

The caravan was called by the organizations of the Cuban emigration in Miami that make up the Alianza Martiana coalition, and the Cuban American Defense League. Its purpose was to reaffirm these organizations’ condemnation of the terrorist act that destroyed the offices of Airline Brokers, a Cuba-travel charter company, on April 27.

These organizations and all participants of the caravan regard this terrorist act as not only being against this company, but also against the right of Cuban emigrants in the U.S. to travel to Cuba, to share with and help their families and other loved ones.

With flags flying, car lights on, horns honking and placards displayed on the sides of the vehicles that read: “Yes to trips to Cuba” and “No to terrorism” the caravan traveled 12 miles of the main commercial areas of Miami.

The immense majority of the thousands of vehicles that the caravan encountered on its route showed its support by honking their horns and signaling by waving their arms and giving a thumbs-up.

The Miami press, true to their nature, completely ignored this important demonstration.

Cerca de un centenar de automóviles participaron durante el mediodía del sábado, 5 de mayo, en una importante caravana en contra del terrorismo de las organizaciones de la extrema derecha cubanoamericana y a favor de los viajes a Cuba. Fue un rotundo éxito.

La caravana fue convocada por las organizaciones de la emigración cubana en Miami que integran la coalición Alianza Martiana, además de la Liga de Defensa Cubanoamericana. Sirvió para reafirmar la condena de estas organizaciones al acto terrorista que destruyó el viernes 27 de abril las oficinas de Airline Brokers, una compañía de vuelos charter a Cuba.

Estas organizaciones y los demás participantes en la caravana consideran que ese acto terrorista fue no sólo en contra de esa compañía sino contra el derecho de los emigrados cubanos en Estados Unidos de viajar a Cuba a compartir y ayudar a sus familias y otros seres queridos.

Con banderas desplegadas, luces encendidas, tocando sus bocinas y carteles colgados a los costados de los carros que leían: Sí a los viajes a Cuba y otros No al terrorismo, la caravana recorrió 20 kilómetros de principales arterias comerciales de la ciudad de Miami.

La inmensa mayoría de los miles de automóviles que la caravana encontró en su recorrido manifestaron su apoyo tocando sus bocinas y señalando con sus brazos, manos y dedos.

La prensa miamense fiel a su naturaleza ignoró por completo esta importante manifestación.
