Dear friends:

Another year of struggle has concluded and through this means I wish to convey to as many of you as possible, my gratitude for your accompanying us in this battle, in which you play such an important role.

There have been many displays of solidarity and support that we have received for the cause of our freedom during this year, to which we are now bidding farewell. I thank each one of you for your efforts and personal contribution to the gains we have achieved.

During the recent court hearing in which I was resentenced, it was very moving to see how strong the Cuban Five solidarity movement is, represented as it was in the courtroom by a large group of friends of the United States and of other countries who found it possible—with much effort and sacrifice—to attend the hearing.

We welcome the new year with renewed strength to continue the battle for truth and justice, with the confidence of knowing that you are by our side, and that you will not stop in the effort to win our freedom and our return to the Homeland.

To everyone, in each of your respective countries, from where you are contributing to achieve these objectives, my deepest gratitude and wishes to you for a Happy New Year. May 2010 be another year of victories.

Queridos amigas y amigos:

Culmina otro año de lucha y por esta vía pretendo comunicarme con el mayor número de ustedes posible. Quiero hacerles llegar mi gratitud por su compañía en esta batalla en la cual ustedes juegan un papel tan importante.

Numerosas han sido las muestras de solidaridad y de apoyo a la causa de nuestra liberación que hemos recibido durante el año que despedimos. Doy las gracias a cada uno de ustedes por el esfuerzo realizado y la contribución personal a los logros alcanzados.

Durante la reciente audiencia en la corte en la que fui resentenciado fue emocionante constatar cuán fuerte es el movimiento de solidaridad con Los Cinco, representado en la sala por un grupo numeroso de amigos y amigas de Estados Unidos y de otros países a quienes les fue posible, no sin esfuerzo y sacrificios, asistir a dicha audiencia.

Recibimos el año nuevo con las fuerzas renovadas para continuar en la batalla por la verdad y la justicia, y con la confianza proporcionada por el saber que ustedes están a nuestro lado y que no cejarán en el empeño de que se nos conceda la libertad y se nos permita el regreso a la patria.

A todos ustedes, en cada país en el que se encuentren y desde donde contribuyan a lograr esos objetivos, mi más profunda gratitud y mis deseos de un Feliz Año Nuevo. Que sea el 2010 otro año de victorias.
