It has come to our attention that Carlos Hernandez, the mayor of Hialeah, a city in Miami-Dade County, is planning to "honor" the terrorist Luis Posada Carriles, and give him the keys to the city, tonight, June 14, during the City Council meeting.

We urge everyone who receives this email and is able to, to call Hernandez's office or email him (see contact information above) to demand that he cancel his plans to honor this terrorist.

This is a deep insult to the families of the 73 victims who died on the Cuban airliner on Oct. 6, 1976, when they were bombed in mid-flight, in a terrorist act widely attributed to Posada Carriles.

Despite overwhelming evidence linking Posada to the crime, the U.S. government refuses to honor the extradition request of Venezuela since 2005, when Posada entered the United States illegally and secretly.

The U.S. government also has more than enough evidence to charge Posada with the hotel bombings in Havana in 1997, one of which killed an Italian tourist, Fabio Di Celmo. Posada himself boasted of his role in orchestrating the bombings.

The special treatment that Miami officials shamelessly give to anti-Cuba terrorists is proof once again, that the Cuban Five anti-terrorists -- unjustly imprisoned now for 13 years -- could never receive a fair trial in Miami.

The National Committee to Free the Cuban Five is urging all who receive this email to flood Hialeah's lines with your protest call and emails!

Nos hemos enterado que Carlos Hernandez, el alcalde de Hialeah, una ciudad en el condado de Miami-Dade, está a punto de “honrar” al terrorista Luis Posada Carriles, y le dará las llaves a la ciudad, esta noche, el 14 de junio, durante la reunión del consejo municipal.

Les urgimos a todas las personas que reciben este correo y que tienen la capacidad, llamar a la oficina de Hernández, o enviarle correo (la información de cómo contactarlo arriba) para exigir que cancele los planes de reconocer a este terrorista.

Este acto es un insulto profundo a las familias de las 73 víctimas quienes murieron en la voladura del avión cubano el 6 de octubre, 1976, ataque terrorista cuyo autor intelectual fue Posada Carriles.

A pesar de la evidencia abrumadora que vincula a Posada al crimen, el gobierno de Estados Unidos rehusa extraditar a Posada a Venezuela, según la orden del gobierno venezolano, emitido desde el 2005, cuando entró ilegalmente y secretamente a EEUU.

El gobierno de Washington tiene bastante evidencia para encausar a Posada por los bombardeos en los hoteles en La Habana en el ano 1997. Una bomba que estalló mató al turista italiano, Fabio di Celmo. Posada mismo se jactó de su papel como autor intelectual en los bombardeos.

El trato especial que los oficiales de Miami vergonzosamente da a los terroristas anti-cuba es prueba otra vez, que para los Cinco Cubanos, activistas anti-terroristas – quienes fueron injustamente encarcelados hace casi 13 años – les era imposible recibir un juicio imparcial y justo en Miami.

¡El Comité Nacional por la Libertad de los Cinco Cubanos urge a todos que reciben este correo, llenar las lineas telefónicas de la ciudad de Hialeah con sus llamadas y correos!
