Cuba will continue in its pledge to free the Cuban Five Oct. 6, 2009 Havana, Oct. 6 (AIN) Cuba is awaiting the process of re-sentencing of three of the Five anti-terrorist Cubans imprisoned in the United States. But whatever the results, Cuba will not rest until it gains the freedom of all the Five, as was affirmed in the Roundtable television program. Through legal means, as well as solidarity actions and worldwide denunciation of the case, we will keep fighting until the Five Heroes return to the Homeland, affirmed journalist Reinaldo Taladrid in the regular Cuban and TV program. In his update to national and international public opinion about the legal process, Taladrid demonstrated that the U.S. government itself and some of its intelligence agencies have said that none of the imprisoned Five had access nor revealed information of that country’s National Security. Antonio Guerrero, Ramón Labañino and Fernando González are in Miami, for a hearing next Oct. 13, where Judge Joan Lenard--the same judge of the previous manipulated trial--will dictate the new sentences. In response to a defense motion, a magistrate judge issued an order for the government to evaluate and inform of any damage done to the national security of the United States by the Cuban Five. Assistant U.S. attorney Carolyn Heck Miller responded that after a diligent and careful review, the government had not encountered formal evidence of damage, according to Taladrid. He emphasized that this admission was in writing. This is in addition to other pronouncements, such as those by high-ranking officials of the U.S. army, who admitted during the trial of the Five in 2001 that they had not harmed the national security of that country, as well by as that dismal personage, Hector Pesquera, FBI chief in Miami. In 2005, before the microphones of Radio Martí and Televisión Martí, Pesquera--one of those who most instigated and manipulated the case—admitted that none of the Five had acquired information that would have put the security of the people and government in danger. This shows that it is a political case, and they simply must free them, declared the journalist. Judge Lenard has just issued a stay that was sought by the U.S. prosecutors. They are seeking more time to appeal the original order, because they consider it too broad and say it demands the disclosure of the government’s secret information, according to the website antiterrorists.cu Gerardo Hernández and René González, the other two Cubans who infiltrated terrorist organizations in Florida that operated against Cuba, do not qualify for this re-sentencing, following the ruling of the appeals court. Jose Pertierra, Cuban attorney who resides in the United States, said during the Roundtable that one of the biggest tasks of the world solidarity movement is to make the case known to the U.S. people and to break the media blockade and its evasion of the theme.

Cuba seguirá en su empeño para liberar a los Cinco 6 de octubre de 2009 La Habana, 6 oct (AIN) Cuba está expectante ante el proceso de resentencia a tres de los cinco cubanos antiterroristas presos en Estados Unidos, pero sean cual sean sus resultados no cejará hasta lograr la liberación de todos, se confirmó hoy en la Mesa Redonda Informativa . Ya sea por la vía legal como por la solidaridad y las denuncias del caso a nivel mundial seguiremos luchando por que los Cinco Héroes regresen a la Patria, afirmó el periodista Reinaldo Taladrid en el habitual espacio de la radio y televisión cubanas . Al actualizar a la opinión pública nacional e internacional acerca del proceso, Taladrid demostró que el propio gobierno norteamericano y algunas de sus agencias de inteligencia han dicho que ninguno de los confinados tuvo acceso o reveló asuntos de la Seguridad Nacional de ese país. En Miami se encuentran Antonio Guerrero, Ramón Labañino y Fernando González para una audiencia el próximo 13 de octubre donde la jueza Joan Lenard, la misma del anterior amañado juicio, deberá dictar nuevas sentencias. Ante una reclamación de la defensa, otro magistrado dictó orden de que el gobierno evaluara e informara del daño hecho a la seguridad nacional de Estados Unidos por los cinco cubanos. La asistente del Fiscal General Carolyn Heck Miller respondió que después de una revisión diligente y cuidadosa no habían encontrado evidencias de daños formales, refirió Taladrid , quien enfatizó que este reconocimiento se hizo de forma escrita. Ello se suma a otros pronunciamientos, como los de altos oficiales del Ejército norteamericano, quienes reconocieron durante el juicio a los Cinco en el 2001 que estos no habían lesionado la seguridad nacional de ese país, así como los del funesto personaje Héctor Pesquera, jefe del FBI en Miami. En el 2005, ante los micrófonos de Radio Martí y Televisión Martí este uno de los que más instigó y manipuló el caso- reconoció que ninguno de los Cinco había accedido a información que pusiera en peligro la seguridad del pueblo y el gobierno de ese país. Con ello se demuestra que este es un caso político, y lo que tienen es que liberarlos, sentenció el periodista. La jueza Lenard en estos momentos emitió una suspensión solicitada por los fiscales federales, quienes quieren más tiempo para apelar la orden original porque consideran que es demasiado amplia y exige la divulgación de información secreta del gobierno, publicó la víspera el sitio antiterroristas.cu Gerardo Hernández y René González, los otros dos cubanos que infiltraron en la Florida organizaciones terroristas que operaban contra Cuba, no clasificaron para esta resentencia, según el dictámen de una corte de apelaciones. El abogado cubano residente en Estados Unidos José Pertierra consideró durante la mesa redonda que una de las más grandes tareas del movimiento de solidaridad mundial es dar a conocer del caso al pueblo norteamericano y romper la censura mediática y la tergiversación sobre el tema.
